Catnip Cottage was visualized and designed especially for cats! Recognizing that there was no place specifically for cats, and that at boarding kennels the cat cages offered them very little space, we decided to break away from the traditional kennel setup and create a unique design with "cat comfort" in mind.
We provide a very cozy and home-like atmosphere. Our spacious "rooms" are 4'x5'x7' high and are furnished with tables, chairs, rugs, custom-made polar fleece beds, toys, and other interactive items. The shelves make good use of the vertical space for exercising and lounging. Each room has a window with an ample windowsill for enjoying the sun and watching the wild birds outside.

The large size of the enclosures allows us to space their food and water dishes far apart from their kitty litter. This is important for their health as well as their comfort. Lots of space also means lots of choices for activities, places to perch, or a favorite spot to nap.
Because we don't board dogs, it's very tranquil here. Soft music plays in the back round. For those cats that tend to be nervous we can add to their water "Rescue Remedy", a natural flower tincture that calms the nerves. We also have a "Feliway" diffuser that diffuses a feline pheromone into the air that has a calming effect. It simulates the "happy hormones" that cats release from their cheek glands when rubbing against you or other things. For those that enjoy it, we grow our own Cat Grass here, a mixture of young sprouted wheat, oats, and barley. And of course we have Catnip!
We have a very limited number of guests at one time which ensures that we can give each cat our very best personalized attention.
